Obit of the Day (Historical): RMS Titanic (1912)
At 11:40 p.m. (ship’s time) on April 14, 1912 the Titanic scraped its hull against an iceberg. By 2:20 a.m. on April 15, the stern disappeared from view. When it was all said and done 1,513 passengers and crew lost their lives. (There were 2,224 aboard the ship, which means a survival rate of less than 32%.)

Andrew Breitbart, a conservative blogger and activist who became famous by publishing undercover videos and revealing photographs aimed at liberals and Democrats, has died, according to an executive at his company.
Joel Pollak, the editor-in-chief of Breitbart.com, confirmed in an email that Mr. Breitbart, 43, died overnight on Wednesday, after the news was posted to several of Mr. Breitbart’s Web sites.
The 43-year-old Breitbart ran a conservative blog network that included Big Government, Big Journalism and Big Hollywood, and contributed commentary to conservative publications such as the Weekly Standard, National Review and Wall Street Journal opinion pages. He was previously a researcher for Arianna Huffington and helped launch the Huffington Post.
