Animal Haven shelter in SoHo is looking for donations of linens, paper towels, cleaning supplies and rubber gloves. They have been caring for 60 dogs and cats with no power.
Sandy’s approach did not deter these dog-walkers crossing the Union Street Bridge on the Gowanus earlier.

A panicked New York pooch fled a frightening fireworks show in New Jersey — and managed to get halfway across the George Washington Bridge as he bravely headed to his home on the Upper East Side.
